Yokohama is Frankfurt's most distant
partner city. It is located in the Tokyo metropolitan area, the largest conurbation
in the world and home to almost 40 million people. Yokohama is a major
commercial hub with a large international port.
The main aim of the regular delegation
exchanges with Yokohama is to promote dialogue in the areas of business and
climate protection. The workshop of a Frankfurt graffiti artist, held in
Yokohama as part of a cultural exchange, met with great interest, for example.
An annual exchange of students is organised despite the ten thousand kilometres
separating the two cities.
