Comprising the two cities of Buda and Pest,
the Hungarian capital is one of the largest cities in the EU. It is also one of
the most frequently visited tourist destinations in Europe. The famous Danube
bridges in particular draw large numbers of visitors. Many important Hungarian
companies have decided to locate their headquarters in the capital as a result
of Budapest's favourable location.
Frankfurt residents have been given the opportunity
to visit their partner city on the Danube by taking part in so-called citizens'
trips. An exchange programme for artists has nurtured various cultural
projects.
