01. May 1967

Deuil-La Barre is located northwest of Paris in the Île de France metropolitan region. In 1967, Deuil-La Barre and Nieder-Eschbach (at that time still an independent municipality) decided to form a partnership. Nieder-Eschbach was incorporated into Frankfurt in 1972, since when the partnership has been supported by Frankfurt and actively maintained by the local structures.

Regular reciprocal visits are organised between the inhabitants of Deuil-La Barre and Nieder-Eschbach. In 2017 a delegation from Frankfurt travelled to Deuil-La Barre to mark the 50th anniversary of the partnership; while there they offered Hessian specialities in the picturesque French town. As a visible sign of the friendship, a Frankfurt underground railway train now sports the name of the partner city.
