Ordering of certificates

The Registry Office Districts Central and Höchst (“Standesamtsbezirke Mitte und Höchst”) in Frankfurt am Main issue various certificates for civil status cases that were recorded in the registers of these Registry Office Districts.

Who can request the issue of certificates?

  1. The person concerned himself
  2. His spouse or partner (not in the case of a divorce or dissolved civil partnership)
  3. Children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. of the person concerned
  4. Parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc. of the person concerned
  5. Siblings (only for birth and death certificate, otherwise as per no. 7)
  6. The person who can prove a legitimate interest in the document (please provide appropriate evidence)
  7. The person who submits a written power of attorney from the persons listed under points 1.-6.

You will first receive a request for payment. After the invoice has been settled by e-payment or bank transfer, you will receive the desired documents.

 

Consultations in person are possible by prior appointment.

Required documents

Please enclose the following with your letter:

  • copy of your identification card (front and back) or
  • copy of your passport (page with first and last names).

 

In your letter, please also provide exact details of:

  • Your e-mail address
  • Your telephone number
  • Your address for delivery

Fees

  • Issue of a birth, marriage, civil partnership or death certificate (also multilingual certificates, register printout): € 12.00
  • Certified register printout (certified copies): € 12.00
  • Each additional copy of the same document: € 6.00
  • Public documents (no discount for multiple orders): € 10.00
  • Certificate of a change of name (no discount for multiple orders): € 12.00
  • Search fee per quarter of an hour or part thereof. For the search of civil status entries, information from the registers and collective files, a fee is charged in the amount of the actual time spent: €14.00
  • Certificate for submission to a statutory social/pension insurance (LVA, BfA) with proof: free of charge
  • Persons entitled to social security (with proof): half of the fees in each case

Processing time

Please note that the processing time can take up to two weeks. Please do not send any status requests within this period. Many thanks!
