St. Justin’s Church (Justinuskirche) is located in Höchst and is the oldest building in Frankfurt. Its 3-aisle basilica was constructed from 830 onwards. It is one of Germany’s few completely preserved churches from the Early Middle Ages.

  • essentially a Carolingian basilica around 850
  • heightened in the Early Romanesque period around 1090
  • for the neighbouring Antoniter cloister, in the Late Gothic period from 1443 a choir and an additional northern aisle were added
  • in the interior primarily medieval and baroque furnishings
  • baroque crucifix in the western part
