AmkA, the Office for Multicultural Affairs (“Amt für multikulturelle Angelegenheiten”), deals with all questions concerning integration, migration, anti-discrimination and living together in our city. Whether language and education, immigration and residence, religion and ideology, LGBTIQ, club life or everyday matters: the AmkA provides fundamental work and advice, it works in cooperations and its own projects and has its own funding activities.

The AmkA acts from the conviction that social cohesion is a public task, ranking equally with other state tasks. As an independent office, it also believes that this duty has to be visible – and must not be lost among the other responsibilities of a larger organisation.

Since its foundation in 1989, the AmkA has raised many pressing questions of equality and participation. Through hearings, studies and its committed public relations work, it has successfully initiated many social projects in Frankfurt.
