Carrying of weapons prohibited
This rule serves to protect all revellers and is intended to help prevent potential dangers or escalations in the crowds during parades. Even seemingly harmless dummy weapons can lead to dangerous situations in crowds or cause uncertainty among security staff.
Exception for customs and costumes
This ban does not apply to typical costume accessories that are an integral part of traditional costumes, provided they are clearly recognisable as such and do not pose a danger to others. Nevertheless, when you choose your costume, you should ensure that you do not carry any real or deceptively real-looking weapons.
The Public Order Office (“Ordnungsamt”) asks all carnival enthusiasts for their understanding and co-operation so that the carnival days can be safe and carefree for everyone.
