Eintracht Frankfurt won the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday, 18 May. Therefore, Frankfurt's city centre was firmly in Eintracht hands all day long on Thursday, 19 May. More than 100,000 fans flocked to Frankfurt’s city centre to celebrate the triumph of "their Eintracht" and to celebrate their heroes at Römerberg. The route from the airport to the Römerberg in the city centre was transformed into a single fan mile.

The Eintracht team had landed in Frankfurt at 5:50 pm the day after the successful final match against Glasgow Rangers in Seville. From the airport, they travelled at walking pace in a motorcade to the city centre. At 9:15 pm, Eintracht was welcomed in the Kaisersaal by Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann and then celebrated by thousands of fans on the balcony of the Römer.
