Earth Hour 2022: Frankfurt switches off the lights

Earth Hour will take place worldwide on 26 March 2022. Frankfurt will also turn its skyline dark as a strong signal for climate protection.

On 26 March 2022, millions of people around the world will once again take a stand for environmental and climate protection by switching off their lights for one hour.

 

This is the 16th anniversary of the WWF's worldwide campaign, and Frankfurt am Main will once again do everything in its power to turn the skyline dark in 2022. All citizens, businesses, institutions, churches and associations can easily take part in Earth Hour by switching off the lights of their buildings between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm on 26 March.

Citizens Advisory Service informs about Earth Hour

Everyone living in Frankfurt can take part in this Earth Hour.

 

Since the beginning of March, the Municipal Energy Agency ("Energiereferat"), together with the Citizens Advisory Service ("Bürgerberatung") in Frankfurt's Old Town, has been providing information about Earth Hour and how to save electricity in everyday life. There are numerous possibilitiesExternal Link: for example, you can use energy-saving LED lamps, or disconnect not needed electrical appliances from the power supply to reduce power wastage through standby losses.

 

Those interested can pick up a free LED solar light for their pocket at the Citizens Advisory Service while stocks last. All citizens can easily participate by switching off their lights for 60 minutes on 26 March 2022 from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

The Earth Hour gallery for participating companies

Companies participating in Earth Hour 2022 can now upload their logo to this year's Earth Hour Gallery of the Municipal Energy Agency at https://www.klimaschutz-frankfurt.de/earth-hourExternal Link and thus document their participation in the worldwide campaign.

 

The Municipal Energy Agency contacted more than 600 businesses in February and March to encourage them to participate in Earth Hour and turn the skyline dark again in 2022. In 2021, 160 businesses had switched off the lights of their buildings.
