After the completion of the Main Tower in 1999 it even impressed Frankfurt residents, who are traditionally spoiled by skyline views: it was the first high-rise building in Europe to have a façade completely made of glass. The Main Tower actually consists of two interconnected high-rise structures: a square one that is 170 metres high and a round one that is 199.5 metres high, with unmirrored glass. In order to increase stability for the Main Tower, 112 bored piles (diametre 120 to 180 cm) were sunk 50 metres into the substratum. The foundation integrates the listed façade of the predecessor building, and in this way creates a connection between the past and the present.

This high-rise building enjoys particular popularity among Frankfurt residents and tourists: it is the only one in the city with a viewing platform and restaurant that is open to the public.
