Counselling for people with unclear health insurance coverage
Nationwide, hundreds of thousands of people are estimated to be without health insurance coverage and thus without sufficient access to medical care. Complex legal constellations complicate a quick clarification of the insurance status. In order to support affected people to enter the regular statutory system as far as possible, more and more clearing centres ("Clearingstellen") are being established throughout the country. Along with treatment services for people without health insurance, counselling services are also an important step towards securing sustainable health care for all.
Medical care for all Frankfurt citizens
Since the beginning of February 2021, the Local Health Authority of Frankfurt has been offering counselling for people without health insurance. Every Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., an open consultation hour for people with unclear health insurance coverage takes place in the rooms of the Humanitarian Consultation Hours at the Local Health Authority. The aim is to place as many Frankfurt citizens as possible with unclear health insurance coverage (back) into the regular medical system. The counsellors are provided by the Department of Social Work and Health of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, and the Frankfurt Youth and Social Welfare Office (“Jugend- und Sozialamt”) covers the personnel costs. The Humanitarian Health Services Coordinator at the Local Health Authority (“Gesundheitsamt”) coordinates the project.
